Fuoco al mito – a lesson in fire, tradition, and Parmesan cheese

I’m kicking myself for missing the ‘fuoco al mito’ event on Rimini’s beachfront at the start of july, organised by Un Mare di Sapori ( also on facebook here). That’s the problem with spending the summer in Rimini – too many events and too little time!

Luckily, though, the event is being repeated in nearby Cesenatico (a charming little village, worth visiting in its own right) on the 21st of August (put it in your diary), in Piazza Andrea Costa.

So, what’s it about? Well – Un Mare di Sapori (A sea of tastes) is an annual initiative to promote the various typical traditional foods and wines of the Emilia-Romagna region. This particular event concentrates on that world-famous Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. The event takes spectators into the world of Parmigiano Reggiano, a cheese which has been produced in substantially the same way for over 800 years, including the branding by fire of the cheese – guaranteeing its authenticity and taste.

The event sounds great, and even better is the fact that there’s plenty of things to taste at the event including, obviously, Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and tasty Lambrusco wine.
