Francesco de Gregori for the Notte Rosa

Francesco de Gregori is going to be one of the undoubted highlights of this year’s Notte Rosa (3rd of July). De Gregori will play a one-off concert on the main stage in Piazzale Fellini, outside the Grand Hotel.

As part of his ‘Vivavoce’ tour (the album is already double platinum in Italy) De Gregori will play with a big band Guido Guglielminetti (bass), Paolo Giovenchi (guitar), Lucio Bardi (guitar), Alessandro Valle (pedal steel guitar e mandolin), Alessandro Arianti (hammond e piano), Stefano Parenti (drums), Elena Cirillo (violin and backing vocals), Giorgio Tebaldi (trombone), Giancarlo Romani (trumpet) and Stefano Ribeca (sax).

De Gregori has been dubbed Italy’s Bob Dylan, and with songs like ‘Alice’, ‘Generale’, and ‘La Donna Cannone’ has come to personify the Italian term ‘cantautore’ or songwriter. Heavily influenced by the likes of Dylan and Cohen, De Gregori also collaborated for many years with Italian songwriter Lucio Dalla (who died in 2012).

The concert is free and starts at 21.00 – expect it to be crowded!
