Annual Festivals & Events
There are hundreds of annual festivals that occur in Rimini and its surrounding province. Festivals that are rooted in local traditions, celebrating the seasons and their fruits, or festivals that have a more modern edge having been developed to highlight a certain aspect of life in the region. Our list is by no means exhaustive, but is an effort to present a year-round guide to the festivals that are on in and around Rimini.
June
Gradisca - Rimini
The Gradisca festival celebrates the opening of the Summer season, and stretches across 15 km of beachfront with free food, wine and fireworks on offer.Medieval Festival - Brisighella
The annual medieval festival in Brisighella (in the province of Ravenna) has since 1980 become one of Italy's most important historical festivals. Every year the festival puts on representations of both sacred and profane aspects of life in the middle ages.
La Notte Rosa
A new and hugely popular festival, where on a designated night hundreds of free events are put on along the Adriatic Riviera. Concerts, fireworks displays and thousands of rose coloured lightbulbs make this an unforgettable night.

Santarcangelo Festival of Theatre and the Arts
An annual festival held in the small town of Santarcangelo di Romagna, just outside Rimini, with an international selection of theatre, dance, and music.Now in its 38th edition
The magical night of the Clams - Cattolica
A night dedicated to Vongole, or clams - one of the staples of the adriatic fish diet. Part of the event includes an annual record-breaking spectacle when dozens of boats line up together to create the world's longest marine fountain, with jets of water shooting high up into the sky.

August
Saludecio - The Ottocento Festival
Held in the first week of August, the Ottocento festival takes as its theme aspects of 19th Century life. For a week the charming walled hill-top town of Saludeccio, about an hour from Rimini, is transformed by a street festival which features music, dance, theatre, and various food stalls & restaurants.
Potatoe Festival - Montescudo
Montescudo is famed locally for the quality of its potatoe produce, and to celebrate this an annual festival has developed where the potatoe is celebrated in all its versatile glory. Alongside folklore shows, you can eat a huge variety of different potatoe based dishes.
Grande Rustida dei Pescatori - Cesenatico
Fishing has traditionally provided the basis for the local economy in Cesenatico, and in recognition of this the town's fishermen offer up an evening of free and freshly cooked fish at the harbour.
Meeting for friendship amongst peoples
Every year, during the hot month of August, one of Italy's most important and interesting conferences takes place in Rimini. Organised by the Lay Catholic organistaion Comunione e Liberazione, the Meeting for friendship amongst peoples brings Priests, Philosophers, Historians, Journalists, and writers from all across Italy and the world, alongside some of the biggest names in contemporary Italian and European Politics for a series of public debates and workshops on a given theme. The conference lasts a week, and is accompanied by a series of cultural events including exhibitions, and concerts.

The Sagra Malatestiana
One of the oldest annual festivals in the region, the Sagra Malatestiana is nowadays focussed on bringing the best in classical music to Rimini.
Festa del Borgo San Giuliano
Held every two years, during the first weekend of September, the Festa del Borgo San Giuliano is one of Rimini's best loved festivals and has achieved a national prominence with people travelling from all over Italy to enjoy the unique atmosphere of the festival. Street theatre, fireworks, concerts, all served up with wonderful local food and drink.
Capodanno del Vino
San Giovanni in MarignanoA festival dedicated to the 'vendemmia' (wine harvest), and the local wines. There's a wealth of local wines to taste, alongside traditional dishes. Tied in with all this are various displays of folk music and dancing. A great traditional festival held every year.
Fiera del Sangiovese
CorianoSeptember is marked, traditionally by the wine harvest, and so many of the festivals at this time of the year are dedicated to wine - and the annual Coriano Fiera del Sangiovese is one of the most popular. Wine tasting, folk music and dancing, and fireworks all combine to make this a good night out - there's the added attraction of being able to take part in a traditional 'pigiatura', where the grapes are stomped by foot.

Squisito! - San Patrignano
A festival of Italian cuisine, with tasting sessions, hosted by the San Patrignano drug rehabilitation communitySagra delle Castagne [Chestnut festival] - Montefiore Conca
The small town of Montefiore Conca, in the hills outside Rimini, hosts a festival dedicated to one of the great symbols of the Autumn - the Chestnut.

Fiera dell'oliva e dei prodotti autunnali [Olive and Autumnal products fair] - Coriano
Talks, tastings, markets, and shows all based around autumn produce and the tradition of small farmholdingsFiera dei Golosi - Morciano
A newly inaugurated festival dedicated to food and wine tasting, with hundreds of temptations awaiting an eager public. In the hill town of Morciano, close to Rimini, you can sample cheeses, oils, salamis, sausages and wines along with other autumnal produce.
